Scandalous, says scaffolding builder Michel Van den Brande, known from The Sky is the Limit, who posted the photo on Facebook.
Michel Van den Brande, the manager of scaffolding builder Kontrimo, yesterday pilloried a façade cleaning company. An employee of the company Verbeek Group was cleaning a façade in Temse, but did so by balancing on a small plank. "Life-threatening," says Van den Brande, who posted two photos of the incident on Facebook.
VDB was himself convicted earlier this year for a workplace accident in which an employee died. "I spend thousands of euros on protective equipment. And then I see other construction companies erecting such scaffolding themselves and getting away with it."
At Verbeek Group they say they are "stunned" by the photos. "This was a life-threatening situation," says project leader Ivo De Weerd. "It is unacceptable, this employee cannot stay employed."
"I was not out to get that man fired," Van den Brande lets known. "I am happy to hire the guy and teach him good safety practices."
