Taking passengers: forbidden, unless with a passenger seat
It is absolutely forbidden to transport people or let passengers ride along on a forklift.
Transporting passengers is allowed when there is a passenger seat in the cab.
Lifting people to height: forbidden, unless with a work cage
A forklift is intended to lift loads, not people. Moving a person to height is therefore not allowed.
Lifting people to height is possible if the forklift is fitted with a work cage to move people up high. Both the work cage and the forklift must then be inspected quarterly. An approved safety harness and helmet must also always be worn.
Avoid accidents
The incorrect use of a forklift, for example by transporting passengers or lifting people, is an important cause of accidents.
Therefore ensure sufficient awareness, for example through safety signage or training, so that employees learn to work with a forklift efficiently and safely.
