Weld defects or imperfections are flaws that occur during the welding process.
Common defects are cracks, porosity, solid inclusions, lack of fusion, incomplete penetration and geometric deviations.
In this training you apply a defect analysis to your own welds in a hands-on way.
We inspect defects in sample pieces both visually, with break tests and with non-destructive testing.
During welding the material is rapidly heated and cooled again, which results in shrinkage, stresses and structural changes.
