Definition
Lifting and hoisting equipment — since the Code gives no definition, this concept must be interpreted very broadly. In addition to obvious lifting devices such as cranes, tower cranes or hoists, all equipment used to lift or hoist a load, even over small heights, falls under these requirements.
In summary
- Fixed installations for lifting must be sturdy and stable so as to limit the risk of the load hitting workers.
- Lifting or moving people is only possible with specifically intended and inspected equipment.
- It is prohibited to lift loads above people or unprotected workplaces.
- Choose the right lifting accessories according to the load.
- Work with a signaller if you cannot continuously watch the load.
- Stop work in extreme weather conditions.
