WHAT DOES THIS WORK-ZONE SIGNAGE TRAINING COVER?
Under the new SB 250 provisions on work-zone signage, this training is mandatory for all staff assigned to placing, maintaining and removing work-zone signage on public roads. This training is aimed specifically at the people responsible for drawing up signage plans and installing road signage on public roads.

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?
Traffic obstacles must be signalled by whoever created them. Signage of works carried out on public roads is the responsibility of whoever performs the works (RD 1-12-1975, art. 78).
Standard Specification 250: when you have to draw up a specification for a public contract for road works or a road redevelopment, you can use a standard specification with default requirements.
The contractor must prove that the staff it deploys on site have the necessary knowledge of road legislation in general and work-zone signage in particular. This proof can be provided through evidence of trainings given in the company or through training certificates in the name of the staff deployed for placing, maintaining and removing work-zone signage on public roads, or at least in the name of the supervisor of this staff deployed on site, in which case that responsible person must always be present on site (SB 250, 10.4).
