For the AV-003 scissor lift aerial platform diploma you've come to the right place at Normec Praxis!

The IS diplomas are essential in the petrochemical industry and port companies.

The training can take place at your location or in one of our partner centres in Flanders.

The number of training days depends on your experience and competencies.

If you pass, you receive the official AV-003 diploma!

If your sector or client does not require this specific diploma, then follow our standard aerial platform training or aerial platform competence test.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Experienced or not? Every scissor lift aerial platform operator is welcome in this training!
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Identification possible by means of an identity card, passport or driving licence
  • Have a certificate of medical fitness
  • The participant masters the language of the exams

TARGET GROUP

Every employee who has to perform simple tasks with a scissor lift in a warehouse or production environment. Tasks with a low degree of difficulty, in an open space, repetitive simple work without time pressure.

OBJECTIVE

Learn to work safely and efficiently with a scissor lift aerial platform.

  • Holding a safety function
  • Operating the device efficiently
  • Being able to report defects and malfunctions preventively
  • Preventing accidents and injuries
  • Preventing damage to products and reducing damage caused by transport
  • Working safely and dynamically

ACTIONS, NOT WORDS!

  • A full day of training lasts 7 hours by default, unless stated otherwise
  • Theoretical introduction (30%) with many practical exercises (70%)
  • Theory exam
  • Practical exam
  • Every successful participant receives the Besacc-VCA diploma AV-003: working with a scissor lift aerial platform
  • The diploma is personal and states the high-risk task for which the participant has passed
  • The diploma is valid for 5 years and is registered online at http://besacc.epyc.eu/diploma

THEORY ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Knowing the content of the safety function
  • Knowing what work permits are and being able to interpret and comply with them
  • Knowing that different types of aerial platforms exist and what their limitations are
  • Knowing the safety regulations
  • Knowing that the devices must be inspected as lifting equipment
  • Knowing important concepts regarding the structure of the aerial platform and the controls
  • Knowing that different types of drives exist, with their field of application
  • Knowing the elements that make up the start-up check
  • Knowing which factors influence the load and stability of the aerial platform
  • Knowing how to safely hoist and tow a device
  • Knowing which checks and actions to perform at the end of the work

PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

  • Being able to correctly perform the daily inspection, recognising dangerous defects and reporting them
  • Checking inspection documents
  • Applying the safety rules
  • Operating the emergency lowering system
  • Being able to use the controls correctly
  • Being able to connect and disconnect batteries
  • Using a good driving technique: forward, backward, turning, parking
  • Being able to perform the following manoeuvres:
    • Turning behaviour and cornering
    • Forward and backward
    • Passing through narrow passages
    • Driving at high and low speed
    • Manoeuvring in a controlled manner
    • Raising the platform to maximum height
    • Driving in the highest permitted position
    • Extending the extendable deck
    • Lowering the platform to the rest position
  • Being able to estimate distances, depth and height
  • Applying order and cleanliness
  • Being able to set up the device safely
  • The use of the emergency control

WHAT DOES THE LAW SAY?

Mobile work equipment with their own drive system may only be operated by workers who have received adequate training for the safe operation of this work equipment (Royal Decree 04/05/1999, art 14.1).
Considered a safety function is every workstation where work equipment is used, where motor vehicles, cranes, overhead cranes and hoisting devices of any kind are operated (Royal Decree 28/05/2003, art 2).
